House Concerts

I want to come to your house and do a house concert! What is a house concert? It is an invitation-based private concert in the comfort of your house, apartment, or shared common space. And it’s the absolute best.

People love hosting house concerts because they get to connect with folks they love and have an experience that is out of the ordinary. The audience gets opened up by the songs. It's an elevated gathering because of the magic of music. It creates deeper conversations and connections between people.

Hosting a house concert

#1 The Space

The space can be anywhere you and your friends can gather comfortably, and be seated for the duration of the show, which is around an hour. It can be outdoors or indoors. It can be a living room, a backyard, an art studio, or even a front stoop.

#2 The Guests

It works best to shoot for 30 people minimum. This allows it to feel like a real concert, and makes it financially viable for me to travel to do the show. People seem to get about half the folks they invite to a gathering these days, so it is best to overshoot on the invites.

#3 The Invitation

I will send you a short bio, links and photos to include in your invites. Use whatever you like, and feel free to ask me for anything that might be helpful.

#4 The Flow

The event needn’t last more than 3 hours from start to finish, making it a viable weeknight event. A typical timeline for you (the host) might look like this:

  • 5:30pm – I arrive and set up the “stage”
  • 6:30pm – Guests arrive for drinks, snacks, mingling etc.
  • 7:30pm – Concert
  • 8:30pm – Concert ends, and where it goes from there is entirely up to you!

This varies from host to host, and daytime gatherings are also an option.

#5 The Donation

You will make an announcement about this after the concert, and there will be a receptacle for this, as well as venmo/paypal info available. The donation after the music is how I get paid, and it is important that people give whatever they feel moved to. Don’t be shy about asking! It feels really good to give directly to an artist with no middle man, and people are usually happy to do it. In case you feel nervous talking in front of a group and want some guidance, I am happy to discuss. Here is an example announcement:

“Thank you all for coming tonight! This is a donation-based performance, and your donations all go directly to Kyra to support her cross-country tour. I encourage you to give generously.”

#6 The Goal

The goal is to have a wonderful gathering with friends and share an intimate experience. Music has the power to open us up to deeper connection with ourselves and others. I am so grateful that you are hosting, and I am looking forward to our event. Don’t hesitate to contact me with any questions!

So, 30 friends. Your place. Me. Music. A very elevated evening with friends, old and new. Yes!
